I AM bothered by all this talk of sticky wickets and all that malarky. What the heck is cricket anyway? Americans confounded the world when we called a "miss" in baseball a "strike". Now we have this British Imperialist sport called cricket whereby the players wear these funny little hats and throw something at a stick in the ground trying to prevent another player from making contact using another stick that looks very much like the paddles my teacher used in school. Where do the crickets come in - except as the background soundtrack to what appears to be a boring "game"?
